Are you ready to go abroad?

The end of the semester is upon us!  There are many things to keep organized as you prepare for your study abroad experience next semester.  You have checklists galore, but it can still be hard to keep track of all the things you need to do before you leave, especially if you won’t be on campus during winter vacation.  Here are some things that may help you as you prepare for departure:

- Run through your checklists to see if there are any loose ends that need to be tied up on campus.  It’s may be easier to get those items cleared up before you leave campus.

- Check and double check your visa procedures.  Every country and Consulate differs on their visa requirements.  Make sure you are familiar with the visa procedures required for your particular situation.

- Leave important information with family members, such as the address where you’ll be staying and of the host university you’ll be at, any contact information of people  that you’ve made at your host university, financial/banking account information in case you need someone to access your accounts in an emergency while you are abroad, etc.  This Family Information Sheet will help you leave recommended information with a trusted person while you’re abroad.

- Continue to research your host university’s website and information about your host country.  The more you know about where you’re going, the easier it will be to pack, plan, and have a good experience!

-Contact the Office of International Programs with any questions at studyabroad@umontana.edu.
